On Air – 27 July 2017 – A Homeless Democracy?

This week’s show includes a feature exploring poverty in East London on Deprivation and ‘disconnected neighbourhoods’ and interviews with Rt Hon Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, and academics Mark Fransham, University of Oxford & Dr Alasdair Rae recently appearing on the Sarah Beeny property special Best Place to Live in the UK.  Alasdair is a senior lecturer in Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Sheffield.

We will also hear from charity workers in the housing sector and other ‘voices that are usually unheard’ such as those involved in political agitation and occupation.  Discussions will include the group that occupied the building close to Buckingham Palace where around a dozen activists moved into a substantial property in Buckingham Gate – dubbed as ‘Rogue Embassy’ by media sources.

Join us at 1pm, Thursday to find out more.
